My name is Jerusha and my Hubby's name is Marc, our last name is Pfannenschmidt, which is where we get the rather unusual spelling that makes up our company’s name Pfanntastic Photography. My passion for photography sprung from a love of weddings and working with couples. The biggest motivation for starting our company was in many ways because of our own wedding. A couple of weeks prior to "the big day" our photographer backed out leaving us in a frantic last minute dash to find a fill in. Unfortunately, our only option on such short notice was an elderly gentleman, that was a traditional style photographer. Our first meeting was the day of our wedding. He was decked out with antique looking equipment, rolls of 35mm film, and a small flash. One entire roll of film “didn’t take” and all that we were left with was a make shift demo album with magic marker all over many of the photos telling us he was going to “crop”, “straighten” or do whatever else to them. The ones that managed to survive the marker attack of 2006, were not worthy of framing and or display. After our honeymoon we were unable to reach him or obtain the final product. All that at a cost of $650.00! Thankfully a family friend was randomly shooting around and managed to capture a number of descent shots. Those are the only photos I felt were usable and unfortunately even they had date stamps on every one. So, out of the necessity to edit date stamps from our backup photos, I actually started my pursuit of photography the opposite way that most do, with learning to edit before studying the art of photography.
As a result of the experience with our own wedding, we enjoy helping others capture those once in a lifetime occasions. We've moved beyond weddings to include engagements, anniversary, family portraits, senior portraits and whatever else our clients may need.
Is somewhat photo-journalistic. We enjoy telling a story with the progression of the day, and like taking the occasional slant on a photo to add a bit of intrigue or allure. We love photos that look effortlessly planned, the ones that look a little too good to be a simple snap shot but are very natural and relaxed in nature.
I grew up in a Christian home in Southern Indiana along with my five siblings. Two older sisters, one younger sister, and two younger brothers. It was most definitely a full-house! We were home schooled together and grew up as as a very tight knit group. My upbringing has to a great extent made me the person that I am today. I’m so thankful that my parents raised us in the Word of God! Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. I believe that to be a great truth along with the rest of the Word.
Marc's story started out a bit differently than mine. He's the oldest of two boys, the hyper child which may explain his type "A" personality, and started driving automobiles when he was only 3 years old (I feel for his parents)! His passions include cars, sports, and nature. Growing up in a Real Estate family, he grew accustom to having a camera in his hands from an early age. Only later in life did Marc find his passion in photography through portraits, scenery, and of course cars!
